History

Hamelin’s heritage dates back to 1864, when Ernest Hamelin opened the company Hamelin & Fils in the French town of Gardin in Normandy.

In those days, the company was involved with the production of registers and accounting books.

After World War II, Hamelin’s grandson Robert Hamelin switched the focus of the company to include the production of exercise books and notebooks.

Throughout the 1980s, Hamelin developed into a market leader in the production of educational tools and office supplies in France.

In the 1990s, Stéphane Hamelin, Jacques Piattier and Francis Werner began to expand the group on the European market through the acquisition of other companies.

At the beginning of the millennium, they acquired the Danish office supplier Bantex, which itself had acquired well-known companies such as Linex and Elba. Unilux, Enri, Favorit and John Dickinson were later added to the list.
